Chainlink is a blockchain abstraction layer that enables globally linked smart contracts. It was founded in 2017. Chainlink, which operates on a decentralised oracle network, enables blockchains to safely communicate with external data feeds, events, and payment mechanisms. It provides the crucial off-chain information required for complicated smart contracts to become the dominant form of digital agreement.

The Chainlink Network is powered by a vast open-source community of data producers, node operators, smart contract developers, researchers, security auditors, and many others. The firm is focused on ensuring that all node operators and users who want to contribute to the network have access to decentralised participation.

Sergey Nazarov serves as CEO and co-founder at Chainlink Labs. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from New York University, with an emphasis on philosophy and administration. Nazarov co-founded ExistLocal, a peer-to-peer marketplace for genuine local experiences, in 2009. 

Additionally, he co-founded CryptaMail in 2014, a blockchain-based, totally decentralised email service. In 2014, Nazarov collaborated with Steve Ellis to build SmartContract, a platform that brings smart contracts to life by linking them to external data and commonly accepted bank payments. SmartContract was one of the business endeavors that led to the formation of Chainlink by Sergey Nazarov.
